Preventing Falls Among Older Adults
Friday, October 21, 2016, 09:00am - 10:00am
Falling is the leading cause of injury among older adults. Each year, one in every three adults ages 55 and older falls and 2 million are treated in emergency rooms for fall-related injuries. The risk of falling increases with each decade of life. The long-term consequences of fall injuries, such as hip fractures and traumatic brain injuries (TBI) can impact the health and independence of older adults. Thankfully, falls are not an inevitable part of aging; many can be prevented. Learn how by attending “Preventing Falls Among Older Adults” on Friday, October 21 at 9 a.m. in the Clubhouse Cinema. This 45 minute presentation is hosted by Polk County Fire and Rescue. Please sign up at the Activities Desk.
