Beneath the Crown

There will be a special screening of Beneath the Crown, ashort documentary film about the unconventionalwoman who was Miss Universe in 1967, on Sunday,January 7 at 3 p.m. in the Cinema. The film touches onher art, her athleticism, her marriage to an inventor,and how her life has touched others as she bravely
faces her own cancer diagnosis. Sylvia Hitchcock Carson’s humorousoutlook and musical laugh will make you smile as she describes what it waslike to win the world’s biggest beauty pageant and how it all started with aborrowed bridesmaid’s dress. After winning Miss Universe, Sylvia leftbehind a glamorous New York modeling career and raised a family in LakeWales, Florida.
