Kayak Club Field Trip
Tuesday, January 22, 2019, 08:30am - 02:30pm
Weeki Wachee Springs – Tuesday, January 22nd
Launch site, Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, 6131 Commercial Way, Weeki Wachee Fl. (Intersection of 50 and 19)
Take out site, Rogers Park, 7240 Shoal Line Blvd, Weeki Wachee
Bayport Inn restaurant - 4835 Cortez Blvd, Brooksville, FL
Difficulty level - Good trip for beginners, the stream is wide and there are no obstructions.
Bathrooms - There are facilities at the launch site and at the takeout point, nothing in between.
Rental info and fees - Rental boats, single kayak, $40.00 -- tandem kayak $50.00, this price includes paddles, life jackets and shuttle service.
Launch fee if you have your own boat and don't rent - $6.00 per boat.
Shuttle fee from Rogers Park to Weeki Wachee - $5.00 per person.
Parking at Rogers Park, $5.00 per vehicle.
If possible, we can run our own shuttle service if there are a couple of vehicles that will not be loading boats at the take out point. The logistics of that will need to be worked out when we arrive. If we do our own shuttle, we can save some money on the shuttle fees and also there is NOT a parking fee at Weeki Wachee Springs.
If you will be renting, please make an advance reservation at 352-597-8484. Just hold when you get the recording and you will get the kayak desk on the phone.
The plan (subject to change)
Meet at the clubhouse parking lot, east side, by the golf cart parking area at 8:30, and plan on leaving at 8:45. This should get us to the launch site by 11:00 Unload all the boats and equipment, pay the launch fees for those who have their own boats, and those who are renting purchase your rental equipment. After this is done, ALL the vehicles will then drive to Rogers Park and bring the shuttle back. We will then launch as a group.
