The "LA 500," a Pinewood Derby race, will be held at 10:30 am on November 15 -- here's your chance to create a pinewood derby car and race against other residents while raising money for the Polk Training Center, a job training facility for adults with developmental disabilities. The $25 entry fee includes a pinewood derby car kit as well as a light lunch catered by NiNi's. Kits will be sold at Monday Coffee beginning September 23, and Tuesdays from 4 to 5 pm in the Clubhouse. Cash or check accepted. See the October LA Times for more information.
