Manatee Viewing Paddle Trip
Wednesday, January 08, 2020, 07:00am - 04:00pm
Three Sisters Manatee refuge, Crystal River
Sorry for the short notice. The best time to see a lot of Manatees is on a cool overcast day. Wednesday is ideal.
Meet in the parking lot on the east side of the clubhouse at 7 AM to form carpools. We will leave just as soon at everyone is there. It is a 2.5 hour drive to the launch site.
Renters - Crystal River Kayak Co, 1422 SE US Hwy 19B, Crystal River - 352-795-2255
Go directly to the rental place, and you will launch from their dock and leave your vehicles there. It is a short paddle to the Manatee Refuge.
Rental info - Call in advance, identify yourself as a club member.
Two hour rentals - single - $25.00 tandem - $35.00
If you want to see the Manatees and do not wish to paddle, they can also arrange a trip on a pontoon boat to the refuge. Unfortunately, we will not be able to coordinate your trip time with the paddlers.
Those with your own boats, go to Hunter Springs Park, 18 NE 2nd St, Crystal River, and we will launch from there ,and leave our vehicles there. We will meet the renters at the refuge. It is about a mile paddle to the refuge. There is a $5.00 parking fee at the park, and no launch fee.
Bathrooms - At both launch sites.
Lunch - We will meet for lunch at Crackers Restaurant on the water in Crystal Springs, 502 NW 6th St, Crystal River, 352-795-3999. We will coordinate our lunch time at the refuge.
Please let me know if you are planning on going, and whether or not you will be renting.
As usual, check your email the morning of the trip for any changes or cancellations.
