Paddle the Alafia River
Tuesday, January 21, 2020, 08:00am - 02:00pm

Meet at the east side of the clubhouse at 8:00 AM, and we will form carpools and consolidate boats. We will leave just as soon as everyone is there. It is about an hour to the launch site.

Launch site - 9125 Canoe Launch Road, Lithia FL (Aldermans Ford Conservation Park)
Take out site - 3932 Lithia Springs Road, Lithia FL (Lithia Springs Conservation Park)

The trip - 9.5 miles with a nice current to push you along, about 3 to 3.5 hours actual paddling time. We will stop about halfway through to stretch our legs and grab a bite to eat.

This stream flows through a very remote and scenic section, with little to no habitation along the shores. It is very winding and scenic, but wide enough to make an easy paddle. There are a few trees and logs that you will have to paddle around, but nothing difficult .There are 4 or 5 areas of swift water where the stream goes over a limestone ledge that are fun to go through.

Rentals - None

Bathrooms - At the launch site and the take out site.

Fees - $2.00 per carload parking fee, pay at the launch site before entering, it is good at both sites. No launch fees.

Shuttle - We will have to arrange our own shuttle when we get to the launch site. It is about 15 minutes drive time between the two points.

Lunch - Take a lunch that you can eat on the river when we stop to stretch. Please let me know if you will be going.

As usual, check your email the morning of the trip for any changes or cancellations.
