Our next trip will be on the Dora Canal, which runs between Lake Dora and Lake Eustis. Launch site will be at Wooten Waterfront Park in Tavares onto Lake Dora, through the canal into Lake Eustis and back. It is about 1/2 mile from the launch along the shore of Lake Dora to the mouth of the canal, and then about 1 1/4 miles through the canal to the entrance to Lake Eustis and then retrace our route back. The entire trip is just short of 3 1/2 miles. The canal has lots of wildlife, and any boat traffic is restricted to idle speed only the entire length of the canal.

Plan on leaving at or before 8:30 AM. It is 1 3/4 hours driving time to the launch site. We will meet there.

Call in advance to make a reservation. Identify yourself as a member of the Lake Ashton Kayak club , and tell them we plan on launching about 10:30 AM

If you have your own boat, launch at the park, no launch fee, no parking fee.

Restrooms - at the launch site.

Lunch - There are picnic tables in the park if you wish to pack a lunch, or there are many good restaurants right there. We will be about five miles from the quaint little town of Mt Dora,which has lots of unique stores and restaurants.
